3 Reasons Why Your Thinking is Creating Burnout.

Let's face it, sometimes life is just a whirlwind.

I can't take the time to smell the roses because I didn't have time to fricken plant the damn rose garden!

Life if going to happen all around us everyday, whether we like it or not.

That is the perfect guarantee in life.

What is not the guarantee is how much of that will effect us...

or is it?

Something may happen around us, but our thinking of beliefs, emotions and actions are the reason for our results in life.

You must give yourself the responsibility to make time for your thinking if you want to stay in the game.

Yes! You have to make time to think!

But only if it is thinking for a change!

Not thinking to dwell!

Understanding the power of your thinking will create the results you want in any area of your life.

You might be saying, that's fine and dandy miss smiles, but I have too much on my plate to even think about thinking.

Well all I have to say to that is...

How's that working for ya?

Everyday, people make excuses why they can't do something.

I bet if I did a survey, I would find that most people make excuses why they can't do something for themselves over for someone else.

Burn out happens for a many reasons such as too much on your plate, feeling you have no control in your life, lack of recognition in your work or home life or just overwhelmed with the high pressures of your everyday job.

I personally believe it is because we do not take care of our thinking.

Full stop.

We can blame our bosses, co-workers, spouses, dogs, weather, car in from but its all in you.

Obviously there is more to uncover with each situation and understand the "HOW TO'S" of thinking for a change but I am confident with every burnout, thinking for a change is the solution.

Let's look at 3 ways to start...

1. The more you focus on a problem the more you put off things that matter.

Ask yourself:

What do I spend most of my time thinking about?

Getting results?

Or

Results you are getting?

You have a big project due at work, and you are focused on the way your boss spoke to you 3 days ago.

Which means you are dreading having a conversation with her because you have in your mind she is mad at you.

You have stewed on it for a few days, now your work has been put off trying to figure out the meaning of her attitude towards you.

Your quality of work is down because you are thinking why should you do a great job for her if she can't respect you.

Reality:

The energy you waste thinking about what others are thinking is crazy.

The possibility that your boss, herself, was having a crap day and didn't control her tone, has nothing to do with you.

How you react to her, plus how you perform your duties has everything to do with you.

This can cause the stress, the anxiety, and even the burn out in your life.

Always listening for the tone, to prove yourself right that your boss is pissed at you.

Compounding over time.

Can you imagine if I am trying to think what you are thinking right now?

I could think, you hate this blog, and you are going to slam my writing abilities or lack of abilities.

Or

I can write these knowing it might help one person overcome their thinking in their work or life.

What seems more likely to push me forward into a positive mindset to keep me consistent in my work?

2. Ignoring your emotions when you feel stuck.

Everyone has a built in emotional scale.

Joy being at the top, depression being at the bottom.

Your emotions are an amazing indicator that something is or isn't working.

Even our bodies do amazing things with the emotional scale.

We actually show different body language for each and every emotion we feel.

Clench fists might mean you are angry or excited.

Shoulders back could mean we are proud or aggressive.

Each body language comes with an attached emotion.

If you are able to take mental note on how you are feeling, you are able to take note on what your exterior shell is presenting to everyone.

Just like when you see your boss with her stance and hear tone in her voice, you think you know what she is thinking about you.

But YOU DON'T!

Not one does except your boss.

Get to know your own emotions and body language better than anyone else.

An exercise I did to understand this for myself was to name an emotion in 1 or 2 words as well as how my body reacts.

E.G.

Anger = mad, rage = burning in pit of stomach, eyebrows down, leaning forward.

In doing this, it created an awareness and a trigger for my conscious mind to say... "Hey , Kryssie, this is anger you are feeling, lets figure out what is going on with your thinking".

Do this exercise with as many emotions that come up for you.

It is a way for you to learn from past experiences but move forward in a way of creating what you want for your future.

Being able to trigger your thinking within an emotion causes that split second change you need to break the habit of past emotional thinking and actions.

3. Not willing to look inside yourself to see what isn't working.

The best way to explain this... if you don't like the results you are getting, it is only inside yourself that you will find the answers.

It's time to plant that damn rose garden.

Taking a time out when you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed and ready to explode is key.

Understanding the thinking and understanding the emotion of a problem but not accepting responsibilities to correct it yourself is detrimental to your well-being.

What you are doing or not doing is part of your problem and solution?

Actions are fueled by what we think or feel.

E.G.

Procrastination is a huge part of inaction which is usually caused by lack of knowing where to start from being overwhelmed.

Overwhelm is caused by our thoughts of believing we have too much to do with such little time, that we freeze in fear and don't do anything at all.

Which takes us back to the beginning of procrastination of not knowing where to start.

Our beliefs create emotions which create actions.

Our emotions confirm our beliefs and actions.

Our actions create our results

Our results are created from all the above which keeps us feeling stuck if we do not change our thinking.

I would be curious to hear in the comments below how many of you look after your thoughts and what method you use in order to stay out of the burnout or stress emotions.

Take care of your thinking.
