Fear - How To Control It

To many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.

~ Les Brown

Think of your deepest fear right now.

Did you notice, you had to search for it?

Did you notice you had to actually bring it to the present moment.

Fear only can be found in the past or future. Never in the moment.

Now you may argue, "but Kryssie, what if I run into a snake."

The snake just sitting there is not fearful.

The thought of the snake from past experiences or lessons are causing you fear.

The thought that the snake might be poisonous IF it bites you, causes the fear.

"What IF it bites me Kryssie?"

Then you will most likely feel pain, the fear is the thought of what the bite is going to cause in the future from what you have experienced or learned.

"But what if I die, Kryssie?"

The thought of you dying in the future is what causes you fear, the moment of death no one comes back to tell us what it was truly like.

Let's face it, the built in fight or flight mode works wonders in these moments, but I am saying knowing a thought from the past, helps you create that moment to get the hell out of there.

If you never in your life, heard of, seen or been bitten by a snake, that coil of flesh will cause curiosity not fright.

Even if it is not a snake at all, but you heard the word snake, your mind may plays tricks on you.

Fear is a thought.

Tell me in the comments below what you first saw.

So you may be wondering, what does this have to do with every day life?

Imagine if you feared failure.

That is a future thought.

If you never try, you fail already, the reason you are not fulfilling your dreams is due to the thought of what you THINK failure will look like, feel like, and what others will say.

Stay where you are, and fail anyways. At least you didn't try and fail.

That is a thought I had from a client recently.

That was a thought I had for myself about 12 years ago.

Until I hear Jim Rohn's "If you think you can or can't, your right."

Something about that statement dropped me to my knees.

Just a simple phrase which explained my whole sense of thinking in that moment.

I was afraid to fail from what I didn't even know what I was going to do.

I was afraid of what people would say, even if I didn't hear what people were saying.

I was afraid to learn in case I couldn't find the right things to learn.

BLAH!

Thoughts are fearful unless you can take control.

Firefighter gain control of fear before they enter a burning building.

The past thoughts of fear are keeping them safe but they are not frozen with fear.

They use what they've learn to their advantage, knowing that every experience is different.

With new lessons and experiences to learn again from.

Here is something I learned that can help with your fear.

Be A.W.A.R.E.

A: Accept the FEAR. Don't try to fight it. When you try to fight the fear, the fear become stronger.

W: Watch the FEAR. Just watch it and when you notice it, scale your level of fear and start to breathe longer on the out-breath.

A: Stands for 'Act normally'.

R: Repeat the above steps in your mind if necessary.

E: Expect the best.

Learning how to remove yourself from the subconscious thought patters and bringing your thoughts into the frontal cortex of the brain, the conscious mind.

Literally creating new brain patterns of thoughts.

The power behind the fear is seeing it, acknowledging it, and accepting it and gaining control over your breathing and actions, your body then takes on a different conscious behavior.

It takes practice.

Being in a conscious mindful, aware state is the power to overcoming or controlling your fear.

What are some methods you use to overcome your fearful thinking.

Put them in the comments below, or email me as I would love to hear them.

Make it a great day!
